Connected Devices

Connected Devices, previously known as SamKnows, provides visibility into "last-mile" Internet performance, including customers’ home environments.

Innovation Overview

Connected Devices Device agents are installed on home and office routers or via mobile apps to accurately measure connection health from your users’ premises or phones to the Internet.

Feature Highlights:

  • Constant Care: Understand the performance of critical home networks with a platform designed for the ISP customer support teams

  • Real Speed Test: Make performance measurements more transparent for both users and network owners, using web-based speed tests running from the client and the router

  • Device Agent: Easily mass-deploy agents and manage tests at scale via a simple firmware upgrade to your users’ existing routers

Customer Benefits:

  • Remote, in-home Troubleshooting: ISP subscribers can remotely validate if a broadband performance issue is occurring inside or outside the home

  • Proactive Network Management: Proactively address potential Internet performance problems and closely monitor the end-user experience

  • Comprehensive Tools: Cisco Real Speed, network measurements (including UDP tests), Dynamic Application Test Suites, (including video streaming)

Here are the quick steps to use Device Agent for troubleshooting:

  1. Open Connected Devices > Management Suites

  2. Allocate Agent deployed in the router

  3. Agent View shows the Agent status and test schedules running

  4. Open “View in ConstantCare” to see the measurement results (Speed, Loss, Latency)

  5. Find the historical data in the Timeline and Disconnection graph

  6. Add extra charts to show metrics from other tests

  7. Run an Instant Test to measure the real speed

  8. Open “View in Analytics” to compare the results with other Agents’ measurement
