Ubuntu 22.04 Agent

ThousandEyes released Docker for Linux container images that are based on Alpine 3.20.

Innovation Overview

Preparing for the end of support of the Ubuntu 20.04 (Focal) operating system in April 2025, ThousandEyes released Physical Appliance (TEPA) images for Intel / ASUS NUCs and Raspberry Pi 4s, as well as ThousandEyes Virtual Appliance (TEVA) images for VMware ESXi, VirtualBox, and Hyper-V, running on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS OS.

Feature Highlights:

  • Longer Support Period: Ubuntu 22.04 is a Long Term Support (LTS) release, which means it will be supported until April 2027

  • Better Performance: Ubuntu 22.04 has improved performance and power efficiency

  • New Features: Ubuntu 22.04 includes new software packages, new power management options, and a new version of the Linux Kernel

Customer Benefits:

  • Comply With Support Policy: Users can take action early enough to plan the Agent migration from Ubuntu 20.04

Here are the quick steps to deploy a virtual appliance:

  1. Download the installer file from the Agent Setting page

  2. Deploy a Virtual Machine using the installer image

  3. Access to the Web console by the VM’s IP address

  4. Change the password

  5. Enter the Account Group token

  6. A new Appliance agent will appear in the Agent list
