ThousandEyes actively monitors the reachability and performance of thousands of services and networks across the global Internet, which we use to analyze outages and other incidents. The following analysis is based on our extensive monitoring, as well as ThousandEyes’ global outage detection service, Internet Insights.

[January 16, 2026, 11:00 AM PST]

On January 16th, beginning at approximately 15:11 UTC, ThousandEyes observed service disruptions affecting X. During the incident, requests to x.com were intermittently timing out or receiving HTTP 503 error messages, indicating backend service issues rather than connectivity issues reaching Fastly and Cloudflare, the frontend CDNs for X. The incident appeared to impact users across all regions. As of 16:40 UTC, the issues appear to be resolved.
